Providence Publishing Corporation Providence Publishing Corporation produces books which honor God and reflect the We work closely with our authors and institutional clients to create, produce, and market books that reflect their specific needs. Recognizing that each project has a unique purpose, we help our authors determine the most prudent approach to reaching their publishing objective. Few other publishing firms combine our financial models of traditional royalty publishing and/or private capitalization with our emphasis on design and editorial integrity. The traditional royalty publishing model involves the process whereby the publisher selects suitable manuscripts for publication and pays the author a royalty based on books sold. The private publishing model simply means that the author or the sponsoring organization subsidizes the capital cost of publication. Both of these models are employed by PPC based primarily on the potential reach of the work and alignment with the publishing vision of PPC. Regardless of the projected publishing model selected, we set high standards when evaluating which books to accept for publication and reserve the right to decline manuscripts that do not fit within our publishing programs or meet editorial requirements.
Publishing Services Manuscripts published through Providence House Publishers are rigorously edited for grammar, punctuation, syntax, and overall content using the Chicago Manual of Style and other appropriate resources. The staff works closely with our authors or institututional sponsors in developing a creative text layout and cover design for each specific project. Often, minor changes in a book's format, organization, and other aspects of presentation can substantially improve its editorial quality and subsequent acceptance in the marketplace. The entire production process typically takes six to nine months. Our publishing services include: editing, proofreading, page and cover design, typesetting, indexing (when appropriate), manufacturing, distribution, and marketing support.
Sales and Distribution for Trade Titles Providence Publishing Corporation handles all warehousing, distribution, logistics, and order fulfillment. While large retailers and distributors are reluctant to work with an independent author, PHP trade titles are available through Ingram Book Company, the world's largest trade book distributor, Baker and Taylor, the leading distributor to libaries, Amazon.com, the leading online book distributor, as well as with numerous other traditional and Internet book wholesalers and retailers. We warehouse PHP titles at no expense to the author for two years following publication, and typically continue distribution much longer based on book sales and author preferences.
Providence Publishing Imprints Providence House Publishers (PHP) is the imprint now used for all books published. It is this imprint that has been traditionally been used by PPC for titles with religious subject matter, including church histories, devotionals, missionary memoirs, and Christian reflections. Hillsboro Press (HP) is now a line of books under the PHP imprint. The HP designation is primarily placed on business books, regional and historical titles, including city and county histories, preservation efforts, current events, and regional folklore, among other topics as well. Retailer and distributors may contact Darlene Chaney at 800.321.5692 extension 23 to set up an account with us or to request our current price list. You may also order at our online bookstore.
